WIPs – Intimate partner violence experiences among Middle Eastern immigrant women during their perinatal period
Manal Fseifes, RN, M.Ed., PhDc, is a PhD candidate in the School of Nursing at the University of Ottawa, as well as a Dempsey women shelter supervisor, ESL teacher and past Crisis and counselling Coordinator at Immigrant Women services Ottawa.
Through her work with abused immigrant women, she was inspired to pursue her PhD and to explore the intimate partner violence experiences of Middle Eastern immigrant women during their perinatal period. She is particularly interested in community nursing and vulnerable populations research including HIV infected women, abused women, and children who witness abuse.
As part of her PhD journey at the University of Ottawa, she hopes to further research to tailor culturally sensitive services for immigrant women and improve their quality of life.
